This type of dinosaurs are known for their powerful dash ability. 

Guide her through the valley to a safe place while two volcanos suddenly wake up.. 🌋

About the game

This is a GameBoy-like platformer inspired by tons of different games of the genre. I tried to do something cute, but intense and challenging.

It was made for DINOJAM2, a game jam featuring dinosaurs.

I tried to build a challenging platformer for once. Not sure if this idea works really and if the difficulty balance is good enough, but tried my best 😅

Nice! Sometimes when a level loads or reloads, the music won't start.

A question, how did you replicate the level loading/transition effect of game boy? The one that screen is fading in (or out) but due to color limitations you see only 3 or 4 discreet steps of the fade rather than a smooth one in new games.

I'll see what I can do, and how I can fix it.

For this GameBoy-like color transition, I simply set the 4 hexadecimal colors I want as variables and then I replace colors one by one depending on if I want to make a fade-in or fade-out transition effect. A color replacement is done in approx. 0,2s to give that retro effect.

I'm using Construct 3 as game engine. I can share a tiny template with the example above if needed.

I have a couple questions and would appreciate the answers whenever you had time:

1) So you draw the selected color over the whole screen like on a transparent (or not) square sprite stretched to fill the screen?

2) Are you planning to release it commercially?

3) Do you have experience with other engines? And if yes, what are pros and cons of C3 in your opinion for making retro 2D games?

4) What is the best tutorial material to learn making platfromer in C3 in your opinion?
